About Oak & Honey

Oak & Honey Events is a sustainable event planning business that specializes in unique wedding and events with a local focus. Our mission is to create intimate details honoring your style with a locally sourced approach. We also offer several unique products that very few other Planners provide – sustainable visioning and color visioning.

Oak & Honey Events will provide top-notch customer service to provide clients with answers to their questions as soon as possible. We understand that planning an event is stressful and strive to stand out with our incredible response times and personal touch we offer our clients. Together we will create an intimate, personal event based on who you are, your passions, and loves.  It is about hearing the words “every detail about this wedding embodies the couple”.

A green wedding is one that is eco-friendly and conscious of the consumption of resources that would otherwise be used in the wedding. The average wedding produces 400 lbs of garbage and 63 tons of CO2.This can include flowers, paper (invitations), textiles (dress, suits), gas emissions (transportation), and everything else that can occur from the wedding. Together, American weddings are equivalent to 8.3 million cars driving on the road for a year. (Source: Green Bride)

Planning an Environmentally Friendly wedding does not mean your wedding needs to be Zero Waste event. You can add touches that are environmentally friendly like locally sourced florals, a vendor who gives back to the community, or other design details.  We can help you locate green or Do-Gooder vendors for your invitations, venue, caterer, floral, photography, and more.

A sustainable planner does all the things a normal planner does but is especially conscious about the impact your wedding as on the environment.

Oak & Honey Events created the Recycled Wedding Boutique, a flea market of sorts. Soon-to-be couples can shop new, slightly used, and vintage items to create the wedding of their dreams from newlyweds who are looking to offload their wedding items.

I have been delighted to have had the opportunity to create color palettes not only for events but also as a healthcare interior designer. I am obsessed with anything outdoors and I have a passion for creating events that touch every ones hearts. After being a volunteer event organizer for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation for over 12 years, I have redirected my lust to produce locally sourced events to reduce our impact on the environment.

I boomeranged back to Cleveland after living in New York City.  I started out in television production and worked at Late Night with David Letterman and Nickelodeon.   Eventually, I found my way to event planning with a high profile events company in New York City, which focused in premier event planning.  I love seeing ideas on paper come to life, sticking to a schedule (ask anyone I travel with) and seeing the smiles on my clients faces.

Melissa worked with Melanie for her September 2015 wedding and fell in love with the entire process. She knew that she would someday like to make her hobby of designing and planning into a job. I love seeing the details and design come together at the very end, and how awesome it is on the couple’s wedding day watching them be able to enjoy their day without worry, just love! Melissa has planned events for a local Parks and Recreation department. She loves animals, loves the outdoors, and spending time with her husband, Matt and new baby, Max.

Loves to go camping and hiking with her husband, Matt, and dog, Lola

I love story arcs…my favorite thing about planning a wedding is the beginning, middle and happy endings.
