About Oak & Honey

The Oak & Honey team specializes in planning weddings and events that are environmentally friendly as well as personal, meaningful and inspired by your unique style. We want your guests to say, without hesitation, “every detail about this wedding embodies the couple”.

We understand that planning an event can be stressful so we provide top-notch customer service through a collaborative planning process, incredible response times, and a warm, personal touch. We call on our extensive experience to design events that are creative and stylish while also being mindful of your budget. Our fun, friendly, down-to-earth team and unique services truly stand out from the crowd.

The average wedding in the U.S. produces 400 lbs of garbage and 63 tons of CO2. This can include flowers, paper (invitations), textiles (dress, suits), gas emissions (transportation), and so much more. Together, American weddings are equivalent to 8.3 million cars driving on the road for a year. (Source: Green Bride)

Environmentally Friendly Planning does not mean that your wedding needs to be Zero Waste, it means that you’re conscientious about the resources consumed in the production of your event, and that you search out ways to make environmentally friendly choices throughout your planning process. A sustainable planner like Oak & Honey Events does all the things a normal planner does but is especially adept at reducing the impact your wedding has on the environment. As part of our planning process we regularly find creative ways to help you source materials and design details locally, and to work with green or Do-Gooder vendors who give back to the community.

In 2014 Oak & Honey Events created the Recycled Wedding Boutique, a flea market of sorts where soon-to-be-married couples can shop for their weddings from the new, slightly used, and vintage items that recently-married couples no longer need.

I founded Oak & Honey Events because I have a passion for creating events that are meaningful to my couples and their families, and that touch the hearts of everyone in attendance. Prior to becoming a wedding planner and designer, I worked for many years as a healthcare interior designer and as a volunteer event planner for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Those experiences taught me the power of well designed spaces, perfect color palettes, and event atmospheres that connect guests with love, joy and the things in life that are truly important. I am obsessed with anything to do with the outdoors and delight in finding locally sourced materials that add personality to an event while reducing our impact on the environment. My ideal clients highly value the guest experience and aren't afraid to get creative and think outside the box!

I worked with Melanie on my own September 2015 wedding and instantly fell in love with the entire process. After that I decided to make designing and planning events my job, which has brought me full circle to the Oak & Honey team. I love seeing all the details of a wedding come together after months of planning, and to know that on the wedding day, my couples are able to relax and to enjoy their celebration without worry, just love! I love animals and the outdoors, and when I’m not planning and designing an event my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my husband, Matt, and our baby, Max.
